Spiders & Bees Woodblock Shirt

Juli Raja Hand Built is a true project of love for founder and independent designer, Juli Raja. Working with her husband's family's block printing studio in India, she creates exclusive wood block prints for hand-woven silk and cotton apparel.

After designing her patterns, short runs of fabric are hand-printed in her family's workshop to create limited edition collections that rarely exceed 25 pieces per color or print design. The beautifully tailored results feature Raja's signature hybrid of traditional and contemporary design, to make clothes that keep alive centuries-old craft techniques while maintaining their modern aesthetics.

Inspiration behind Spiders & Bees "Spiders & Bees is my original drawing. This image was created as a memory drawing.  When I was young, I kept bees with my father.  One day we were out tending to the hives and I noticed what looked like white cotton balls in the corners of the hive boxes.  My father explained that the spider laid its eggs inside the hives to protect them from being eaten by rodents.  I loved the idea that the Spiders to refuge inside a bee hive for protection."
