Necklace - Aqua Gold Taqua Pods
Made in Columbia
Eco-resin jewelry is Belart’s newest line. We began to partner with the creators of eco-resin jewelry in 2015. The artisans are from the central mountainous Andean Region in Colombia.
The resin we use in entirely eco-friendly and non-toxic. We believe that there is no better chemist than our Mother Nature. Our eco-resin jewelry collections are handmade and created from bio-based resins, co-products of waste products. This means that the resins are made from upcycled or recycled materials that have been discarded. One example is pine bark that is stripped from pine trees when they are made into lumber.
In using eco-resins, we have replaced petroleum-based carbon with renewable, plant-based carbon. These materials do not compete with food sources or displace food-based agriculture. Instead of using conventional synthetic and toxic-petroleum based resins, Belart believes in “green chemistry” which requires less energy to create and produces less harmful byproducts, thus reducing our carbon footprint.
Belart’s fair trade jewelry collections represent an interweaving of traditional art forms with contemporary designs, just as our business model brings together a mosaic of people and cultures through fair trade partnerships.
Belart, or "Bello Arte" is run by an eclectic, artistic team of three generations (grandmother-mother-daughter). Together, we enjoy creating and collecting jewelry and other art both in the Green Mountains of Vermont and along the tropical shores of South East Asia and Latin America. As a women-owned company, we focus on partnerships with women because we believe that by empowering girls and women, we can, in turn, raise the standard of living for entire families and whole communities.
At Belart, we are not only translators, rescuing and valuing handmade creations, but also connectors, linking you to extraordinary worlds and styles from faraway lands. In acquiring an item from Belart's fair trade jewelry collections, you are making a “purchase with a purpose,” supporting fair trade practices where every woman and every artisan works in a safe and healthy environment and received a fair, living wage.
