Clutch with Removable Shoulder Strap
Queen Adeline is a Massachusetts based, sustainable fashion brand dedicated to creating one-of-a-kind styles for women on the go. Each piece is inspired by the vibrant culture of Africa and is made using holistic and sustainable processes.
Queen Allotey-Pappoe, was raised in Ghana and was always entranced by the scenes of hard-working women at the market in beautiful textile clothing in vibrant hues. As Queen ventured into the world of fashion and was shocked at the practices of fast fashion, the inspiration of these market scenes stayed with her. She decided to make wearable art, crafted with care, versatile enough for this hard-working woman who was juggling roles to confidently express herself, whilst minimizing her carbon impact on her world
Preserving our environment while empowering women and preserving local artisan communities is at the heart of what we do. We intend to keep it that way!

Traditional Ghanaian hand block printed textiles had symbols called “Adinkra” printed on them to convey the message and mood of the wearer. Adinkra literally means “name-calling”. Today, most digital and traditional African print textiles still carry these symbols in their contemporary form. This traditional art form inspires us in every design and collection.
Queen studied at Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MASSART) worked for years in the Entrepreneurship and sustainability industry, until she finally brought her vision of Queen Adeline to life.
Our sustainability mission is of the utmost importance to our brand. We believe in a holistic approach, meaning we don’t focus on just one area of sustainability but instead we ensure our ethical practices are balanced between multiple areas.
- Zero waste design approach in every piece we create.
- Ethical sourcing of fibres from Local African vendors and artisans.
- Fair wages and work environment in both the US and Ghana.
- 100% wax cotton print textiles and other biodegradable fibres.
- Handmade, well-made, slow fashion for long-lasting pieces. We do not follow the cyclical fashion season. We only make things when needed.
- Minimal packaging to help reduce our carbon footprint.
