Deck Prism Glass

In the days before electricity, light below a vessel's deck was provided by candles, oil, and kerosene lamps, all dangerous aboard a wooden ship. Small conical deck prisms were an innovative solution. Laid flush into the deck, they drew light below without weakening the planks.

This deck prism is an exact reproduction of those found aboard the Charles W. Morgan, America's last wooden whaleship and a National Historic Landmark.

Color: Cobalt

Glass is hand poured in the United States. Due to the nature of the hand cast process each piece is unique.
