Anchor Enamel Pin PEM East India Marine Hall

$14.95

Take home a piece of Salem’s maritime history with our newest enamel pin, inspired by the historic anchor that stands on Essex Street in front of the East India Marine Hall.

This remarkable hand-forged iron anchor dates to sometime before 1820, during the era of the early frigates. Its twisted shank tells an incredible story—it was likely bent during a massive storm powerful enough to warp iron. Thanks to the strength and flexibility of hand-forged craftsmanship, the anchor survived and remains a testament to the skill of early blacksmiths.

Now you can carry a little piece of that history wherever you go.
