Black Futsu Squash - Art Seed Packs
There is something irresistible about a bumpy squash. Outside, its folds and crevices comprise a complicated topography, suggesting depth and history. Inside, its glowing flesh radiates sweetness and comfort. Together, this type of squash conveys a parable of sorts: that complexity can comfort, that intricate textures can envelop sweet truths. This squash also provided comfort to soup kitchen patrons; after our crew extracted the seeds, volunteers turned the flesh into a free meal.
Black Futsu is an heirloom Japanese pumpkin with attractive, deeply ribbed, bumpy skin that cures from deep black-green to a warm orange buff color. Edible skin, and fine, nutty-flavored flesh. Great roasted, fried in tempura, pureed in pies or soups, or pickled! 3-5 fruits per plant, averaging 3 lbs. each.

About Art Seed Packs: Each year, Hudson Valley Seeds commissions contemporary artists from around the United States to tell the story of a particular seed variety. That art and those seeds combine to create an Art Pack, a unique celebration of the diverse stories of seeds and their stewards.

IN STORE PICKUP
For our local customers, we are pleased to offer an In Store Pickup option! How it works:

Shop online at shop.pem.org

At checkout, select Curbside Pickup as your shipping method. Place your order.

Once we have prepared your order, you will receive an email that your order is ready for pickup.

Follow the pickup instructions provided in your email. Arrive at our Store location at 161 Essex Street.
- Orders not picked up within two weeks of order date will be canceled and refunded.
Please Note: Please allow 2-3 days from purchase date for processing. In Store Pickup is available Thursday through Monday 10 am–5 pm.
RETURN & EXCHANGE POLICY
We are pleased to accept returns within 30 days of the purchase date. All returned items must be in their original condition and packaging.
